Mark Hepworth

Meet the New President of the Old Peterite Club, Mark Hepworth
Mark Hepworth has been elected to succeed Peter Netherwood as President of the Old Peterite Club for the two year period 2008 to 2010. Mark joined St Olave's in 1960 before attending St Peter's from 1965 to 1971. He points out that his third year in the Sixth Form was not as a consequence of sitting the old Oxbridge Scholarship exams but a miserable failure at his first attempts at A Levels! Happily the situation was righted second time around, enabling him to spend three years at Durham University reading for a degree in General Arts. A further year at Law School preceded qualification as a solicitor with a York legal practice. Now, some 30 years later, he finds himself as Senior Partner and Head of the Family Law Department of the same firm, now styled Denison Till.

Away from the office, Mark regrets that increasing age no longer permits him actively to participate in hockey (during the winter), nor cricket (during the summer), both of which he played with considerable enthusiasm but rather less ability well into his 40s. For approximately ten years he was Secretary of the Pandas Hockey Club never missing a trip to the annual Easter Bridlington Festival for 21 consecutive years. Very moderate golf is the present limit of his sporting activity but retirement, hopefully in the not too distant future, will enable him to put in sufficient practice to reduce his handicap below its present embarrassing 24.

Mark lives in York, almost a stone's throw from St Peter's and is married to Liz. Children Kate and Emma are now independent and James, in his final year at St Peter's is, at last, heading in that direction.
