Welcome to St Olaves

Andy Falconer
Headmaster

There’s something about belonging to St Olave’s School that is very special, and yet hard to put your finger on. St Olave’s is a happy place, where busy children are encouraged to believe they are capable of more than they thought possible. We give them responsibility, recognition and hopefully a sense of joy. The work our children produce in music and the arts brings us immense pleasure.

Competitive team sports are something of which we are proud, not ashamed. In the classroom we aim to provoke, to challenge, to develop life long learning habits and to have fun. Vitally, quality learning takes place because of the relationships that exist between staff and pupils.

Our House and mentoring system, along with the Christian framework that underpins everything, means your child’s happiness and wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. Parents find the range of boarding options appealing – the odd night through to seven nights a week. The reason that our 12 and 13 year olds are at the top of the junior school, not lost at the bottom of a big senior school, is so that they gain in confidence, self-esteem and opportunities, thriving without the pressures of being surrounded by older pupils. We want our children to thrive here before moving on to St Peter’s or any other school at 11+ or 13+.

So, can you picture your child spending these incredibly important years here at St Olave’s? You really need to see and feel the place for yourself before reaching that decision. It would be my pleasure to show you around the school, to see our teachers and pupils in action, and to let you form your own view on whether St Olave’s is the place to develop your child’s unique talents.
