3 Keys to Success

The Acting Head is Claire Wike, previously Deputy Head

The education of a child is an exciting journey. The road is upward and long; inevitably it has its dips and turns before, we hope, our pupils leave us at 18, ready to lead and to serve in the wider world.

During the sometimes bumpy journey through adolescence, we view spiritual and moral teaching as a vital part of nurturing each individual. Relationships lie at the core of that journey and enable a young person to be supported and encouraged, stimulated and inspired. The relationship between teacher and pupil is key to unlocking potential talent and our house and pastoral system of tutors and mentors are therefore some of the most critical elements in our success.

It is a privilege to challenge young minds with intellectual and academic rigour but we offer so much more. It brings joy to see young people making, performing and creating great music, great drama and great art. Our sport equally develops qualities of character and integrity, whilst boarding develops friendship and tolerance, camaraderie and respect.

Situated on the banks of the River Ouse within sight of the Minster, St Peter’s is a wonderful place for young people to grow and develop. Although the school has a history which extends back to 627AD, it is very much a modern seat of learning in tune with the needs of today and tomorrow. It is our privilege to be guiding young people to a lifelong love of learning and to be offering a myriad of opportunities to allow them to develop beyond expectations.
